Help a Veteran Save His Best Friend
Ryan served his country with honor.
He went through two deployments, years of sacrifice, and was left with lasting injuries that continue to impact him today. After nearly seven years in the military, including a medical discharge following a devastating leg injury, he returned home to start a new chapter. Like many veterans, the transition back to civilian life wasn’t easy. However, Ryan wasn’t alone…
He had Brutus, a loyal boxer who helped him through the darkest moments. Brutus was more than a dog. He was a lifeline. When Brutus passed away, Ryan found hope again in Winston, and later Atticus.Atticus and — a sweet, scruffy rescue who instantly bonded with him despite being fearful of most men.
Now, Atticus needs Ryan — and us.
At just six years old, Atticus has torn ACLs in both hind legs and has a painful, unstable kneecap. Without surgery, he’ll lose the ability to walk without pain. He’ll lose his quality of life.
Ryan is heartbroken. He lives on partial VA disability, but it’s not enough. It is an immense weight knowing there’s a solution but no way to afford it.
The surgeries Atticus needs are expensive and must be done in stages. If done soon, the prognosis is excellent. Atticus can return to the happy, active dog he once was. But time is not on their side.
Because Atticus is not a certified service dog, there’s no assistance available from the VA or other military programs. Ryan has done everything he can on his own, but he shouldn’t have to do this alone.
Ryan served his country. Let’s serve him now.
Your donation will directly support Atticus’s surgeries, recovery, and give Ryan more joyful years with the dog who’s become his emotional anchor. Together, we can give this veteran and his best friend the future they deserve.
